Juicing – Orange with Attitude

Juicing - Orange with Attitude

Adventures in juicing.  Well, it is always an adventure in our house because we tend to throw in some wild combinations, or whatever we have.

On this morning we added the following ingredients to create a beautiful color orange.  They say orange is the new pink, well I’ll say orange is the new delicious!

3 oranges

1 whole pineapple

5 kiwis

a bag of mini carrots.

Of course this one was sweet and didn’t stick with us as long as some of the blends we have made with more serious vegetables included.  We find the nice balance of sweet fruits with a lot of vegetables gives us that quick burst of energy but doesn’t end with a sudden spiral into the hungries.

This combo was great though, and I would love to serve this to brunch guests in small crystal juice glasses.

Orange ya glad this one is sweet?……DebraJ

Juicing adventures – Roses are Red and so are Beets

BB_Heart Goblets

Adventure in juicing continues to be on our radar.  This week we pulverized a pineapple, some oranges, cantaloupe, carrots, and 2 giant beets.

For those skeptics out there, the beet juice is actually very subtle and delicious.

This one turned out so pretty that I just wanted to admire it, but I quickly drank it and found it to be one of the all time greats.  Literally every addition had the ability to add its own individual sugar, so this one was very sweet.

Juicing — It’s Not Easy Being Green

Juicing - It's Not Easy Being Green.

Juice is still a wonderland for us as we experiment with a variety of combinations.  We are always amazed at how well the combinations turn out and how good they taste.  This one blended pineapple, cantaloupe, oranges, apples,  ginger and spinach.  It was certainly GREEN but it had a wonderful sweet flavor.  I was sorry when it was gone!

A Goblet of Juice a la Week-end

A Goblet of Juice

The week-end again – so time to crush some more fruits and vegetables.  We use a hodge-podge of mixtures based on what sounds good and what we have available.  Today’s juice was the result of smashing the following produce:

1/2 cantaloupe

1/2 pineapple

2 oranges

1 apple

1 bunch of fresh parsley

1/2 cucumber

A big handful of spinach

Broccoli

2 roma tomatoes

A Goblet of Juice

This one came out green but had a sweet flavor.  We loved it.  In fact, we haven’t made a combo yet that we disliked.  I guess that momentous occasion will arrive eventually – I’ll be sure to share if we come up with a stinker.

Juicing for breakfast seems to provide a lot of energy and when a large portion of the juice is from vegetables, it seems to stick with you and holds off hunger.

I read somewhere that some people skim off the foam, but we like it, so we don’t bother with that detail.

Cleaning up the juicer is a chore, but not as bad as I had anticipated.  I think I had heard so many horror stories about clean up of the juicer that anything less than horrible seemed easy.

A Goblet of Juice

I can surely recommend this blend………….DebraJ

Juice of the Day – Fruit & Veggie Blend

Fruit & Veggies ready for juicer
These delicious fruits and vegetables are ready for our juicer!

Today’s juice was a random combination of the fruit and veggies and turned out to be yummy.

Here is what I used:

1/2 fresh pineapple

1/2 cantaloupe

1 large stalk of Kale, stem removed

A giant hand full of spinach

1 beet

3 oranges

a small bunch of parsley

Served 2

Juice of the Day - pineapple, cantaloupe, kale, orange, spinach, parlsey, beet
Saturday juice blend.

This one was very delicious, and we have decided that we like almost any juice that has cantaloupe included.  Cantaloupe has an overpowering essence, but not in a bad way.  Highly recommend this combination.!

Another juicy Saturday…..DebraJ

Juice of the Day – Beet, Pineapple, Orange

We have always been curious about juicers but we didn’t know a lot about them.  Because they are so expensive, we hesitated to invest in one only to find later that this was another “whim” that we would tire of quickly.

Luckily (I guess you could look at it that way…) we found one at Aldi after the holidays for a very reasonable price — so the experiment began.

Saturday mornings are prime time for the juice experiment, and we proudly text a photo of the juice du jour to our kids and kids-in-laws to show them our creation.  Their responses are respectful, but I think they are worried about us.  Cool

Today I decided on a simple blend.  See recipe below.

Copy of BB_Beet_orange_Pineapple

 Beet-Orange-Pineapple Juice
  1. 1 large beet
  2. 3 oranges
  3. 1/2 fresh pineapple
  1. Wash the beet and slice into large chunks. If the beet has the greens attached, wash the greens and include them in the juice.
  2. Cut the pineapple into chunks
  3. Peel the oranges
  4. Place the beet into the shoot of the juicer along with the pineapple and orange so the juicier items are blended along with the harder vegetable.

Notes:

Give it a stir and pour into two large juice glasses or rocks glasses.
